Please join Patrick Jackson, Associate Dean for SIS Undergraduate Education, Mark Hayes, Associate Director of AU Abroad, and Yolande Bouka, Acting Resident Director of AU Abroad, Kenya for a networking dinner at Le Rustique in Nairobi, Kenya. Enjoy an opportunity to meet fellow Eagles now living in Nairobi and continue to grow our American University alumni community abroad. 

Prior to becoming Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education for SIS, Dean Jackson taught at Columbia University and New York University. He is currently serving as the President of the International Studies Association-Northeast. Jackson’s research interests include culture and agency, international relations theory, and the sociology of academic knowledge. The Carnegie Foundation recently names him the 2012 U.S. Professor of the Year for the District of Columbia for the Advancement of Teaching.

As Associate Director of AU Abroad, Mark Hayes is responsible for negotiating agreements with foreign institutions, overseeing the launch and management of Abroad at AU, and for expanding and promoting AU Abroad. Prior to joining American University, Hayes held senior marketing positions with Intel Corporation and Asbis Enterprises in Europe. He has lived abroad in Russia, Germany, Cyprus, Australia, Czech Republic and the United Kingdom.
