South Florida Chapter Volunteer Day

Spend a day volunteering at the Florida City Pinelands. Meet fellow Eagles and enjoy a day of giving back and getting back to nature.

The National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) and Nature Valley are partnering with Miami-Dade County to return Florida City Pinelands Preserve to its natural beauty and serve as an educational resource for visitors on their way to Everglades National Park. A pathway will be added to a 24 acre parcel of pinelands that are remnants of the original Everglades to improve public access points so that the local community can walk to the preserve, and get to experience and learn about Everglades National Park. The pathway will be marked with educational signs that link the preserve to the unique ecosystems of Everglades National Park.

The community of Florida City, FL serves as the gateway to Everglades National Park. Volunteers will remove invasives, plant indigenous plant species, and create a clear entrance and pathway into the preserve. These efforts will provide habitat, food, cover, and nesting sites for a variety of wildlife and will be a source for recreational opportunities for the local community and visitors.

There is no cost to attend this event. RSVP by Thursday, October 11.
