Join fellow alumni, parents, and friends for the first D.C.-area Culture WONKs event - a presentation from School of Public Affairs professor Rob Johnson on the history of prisons and the death penalty, followed by a tour of the National Museum of Crime and Punishment.  Professor Johnson will accompany the group on the self-guided tour to answer any questions.  You won't want to miss this exclusive AU look into the the world of crime and punishment! 

$25 per person includes appetizers, wine, beer, and soft drinks, the presentation, and a self-guided tour of the museum.

Robert Johnson is a professor in the School of Public Affairs' department of Justice, Law, and Society.  His areas of expertise include the prison and other institutions of punishment and confinement, the death penalty, institutional violence, and race and justice in America. He has published extensively in these areas. Professor Johnson has testified or provided expert affidavits before state and federal courts, the U.S. Congress, and the European Commission of Human Rights. His courses include Violence in Institutions, Violence in America, The Prison Community, Advanced Seminar in Corrections, and Corrections in America.
