Arboretum & Gardens Celebration Luncheon

Join us for a celebration of AU's Arboretum & Gardens at a luncheon featuring actor and horticulturist Kirk Brown portraying renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.
Mr. Olmsted defined and named the profession of landscape architecture in the United States. Credited with over five hundred commissions, he designed many of America’s most treasured landscapes, including the U.S. Capitol grounds and New York’s Central Park. He also created the first campus plan for American University.
While the campus looks very different from his original blueprint, we imagine Mr. Olmsted would be pleased to learn that we are reintroducing several of his ideas through AU’s Arboretum & Gardens.
We hope you can join us for this unique presentation as actor and horticulturist Kirk Brown reflects on what Mr. Olmsted might say about the architect’s legacy and his impressions of American University, love of Washington, DC, and philosophy on design and preservation. It promises to be an exceptionally entertaining afternoon.
Cost is $45 per person. Complimentary parking is available in the School of International Service parking garage on Nebraska Avenue.
