David Shambaugh will discuss how China is "going global" at the 180th Washington-Asia Forum. Shambaugh has been professor of political science and international affairs and director of the China policy program in the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University since 1996, and nonresident senior fellow at Brookings since 1998.

Previously, he taught at the University of London SOAS, where he also was editor of The China Quarterly. He was director of the Asia program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (1985-86) and analyst at the Department of State (1976-1977) and the National Security Council (1977-78). Shambaugh received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, an M.A. in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University SAIS, and B.A. in East Asian Studies from George Washington University.
