Registration for this event is now closed.  The event is at capacity and we can no longer accept registrations.

Boston area alumni, parents, and friends are invited to join Dr. Kiho Kim, associate professor in the department of environmental science, for a private presentation and tour at the newly renovated New England Aquarium. At this family friendly event, Professor Kim, a marine ecologist, will provide an interactive presentation on tropical reefs and then lead the group on a private tour of the new Yawkey Coral Reef Center

$30 for adults and $20 for kids includes admission to the aquarium, the presentation and private tour, snacks, and beverages.  Please note that space is limited and registrants will be asked to limit their party to four guests.

Please note that the event begins at 2 p.m., but guests will be able to check in as early as 1 p.m. to receive their hand stamp, giving them access to entire Aquarium for the day. Check-in will take place at the AU registration table in the Aquarium lobby, at the entrance to the West Wing Gallery. We just ask that you return at 2 p.m. for the reception and presentation!

Dr. Kiho Kim is a marine ecologist specializing in tropical coral reefs. His research focuses on understanding the role of diseases in marine ecosystems and the synergistic effects of environmental factors, such as nutrient pollution and climate change, in the degradation of coral reefs. Most recently, he has been using biogeochemical approaches to understand nitrogen dynamics and their interaction with disease within individual corals to entire, coral communities, and coastal ecosystems. He is currently a member of the Ocean Studies Board of the National Academies of Science and is a councillor of the International Society for Reef Studies. Dr. Kim received a PhD in biology from the University at Buffalo; an MS in biology from Florida International University; and a BS in biology and environmental studies from Brock University.
